I'm an 18 year old college student home for thanksgiving break. I decided to go do some christmas shopping yesterday when my day turned terrible. I was turning left out of a shopping plaza, i had the green light when a lady from my left came speeding going about 75 mph and hit the front drivers side of my car. She literally took the front of my car off, the only thing left to my car is the engine. She bent the frame of the car so the point where i can hardly open the passenger side door, which wasnt even hit by her car. My airbags deployed and my hand was burned and i received a concusion, whiplash and im experiencing back pain. My car was brand new, about 4 months old and the amount from the insurance company wont pay the loan off fully.I have a witness from the accident who said the lady ran the light and was at fault and I just dont know if i should sue.

I do like larger cars like SUV's and pickups and compact crossovers but that is not to say that I do not like smaller cars. My family and I are just trying to get a ballpark idea of how much my sister's car insurance would go up if we made a claim on an accident she had. She was in a mall parking lot and pulled out to make a left turn. I think she didn't really see a car coming, but I also think the car was zipping around the lot at a too-fast speed. My sister got hit in her driver's door and needs a new door and the frame of the car needs pulled out. There are no witnesses to really show who's fault it is, and I think it's a little of both judging by how much damage there is on her car (the other driver had to be going fast). There is no damage on the other person's car. It costs about $1500 to get it fixed (just the bare minimum - a new door from a junkyard and fixing the frame, just to make it safe and sealed, there will still be some dents). We're debating on claiming it or not because there is a $500 deductible. She is 25 years old and hasn't had an accident before. How much do you think the insurance would go up and how long would it stay up? Would it be worth it to claim it or should she just pay cash for the damages? Thanks!

My car was involved in a hit and run and am not covered by insurance?

I just got a message from my friend saying that the car that I now own was involved in an accident. Specifically a hit and run. I know for a fact it wasn't me who hit the car and ran. Hello, I recieved a ticket in January for Driving without Insurance in Florida. The officer cited me 110$ and let me go, I stayed off the road for a few weeks immediately purchased insurance within 30 days. FYI: this falls under New Mexico laws I drove a small 2 door honda civic and was on my way to school. There was alot of traffic being it was around lunch time and i was approaching an intersection when this dodge durango came out of nowhere and tried to cross in front of me. (I had the green light) I tried to brake and swerve but my driver side front end hit her passenger front end. Ownership of whole life insurance?

My grandfather bought me whole life insurance (paid up in full) when I was an infant and then made my father the owner. I am the insured. My father and I are no longer on speaking terms and I want ownership of my life insurance. Because I am 23, shouldn't the policy have become mine when I became an adult? I mean, it's not like I ever signed anything when I was a baby. If something were to happen to me, he would be the beneficiary - that's not something that I want. Is there legal precedent for me to regain control? Is there any situation in which I would NEED to be the owner of my life insurance, so that I can tell him that he must transfer ownership to me?

Motorcycle insurance?

I am looking to get a motorcycle in the future and I know it takes time and money, but most people do not ride in the winter (NJ), so my question is, can I cancel my motorcycle insurance during winter months, so I am not paying all year round? Does your Drivers Ed grade effect insurance?

I know that taking Drivers Education can give you a discount on insurance. However, in the class, we take tests and are assigned homework. We need a 65 to pass. If I get a 70 does this effect the discount I could recieve on insurance compared to say a 90 average? State: New York

Why is it that you pay all this money for car insurance?

Why is it that you pay all this money for car insurance and after an accident you still need to pay a deductible? Think about this; if you payed $200 a month for 5 yrs without an accident; that's $12,000; you would still need to pay a deductible to get your car fix and your premiums will go up. That's enough money to buy a new compact car. Just curious to see if anyone has the answer.

Hi all, I'm about to get my first new car but I'm not sure about the insurance. Do I have to buy the insurance first and then go the the dealer and finance the car? Or do I when I get the car from the dealer will they give me like a 1 day policy so then I can buy insurance? And no, I don't want to get insurance thru the dealer just the financing. P.S. My husband is a full-time teacher. I work part-time and am a grad. student. He has great insurance for himself, but I have to pay for my own separately. To add me to his plan would cost us $650.00 a month (adding 1 to 9 people is one lump sum, $650). I can barely afford what I pay on my own ($160+) and then there's the deductible... (basically my insurance doesn't end up paying for anything... it all comes out of my pocket). I guess I just always assumed that if a person had a good full-time job that family insurance would be included or affordable... It's not even an option.
